Revelation 10

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 30, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 30, 2015avatar

A big takeaway from our teaching time this morning in Revelation 10 is the seven thunders, which John was told not to write down for us to know what they were. As followers of Christ Jesus, we don’t always have all the information we may think we need or want, but Deuteronomy 29:29 reminds us “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law” (ESV). Also, here are the notes that I said I would share, from David Guzik’s Commentary on Revelation, regarding the “mystery of God”… “The mystery of God would be finished: What mystery? One important … Continue reading →

Finding Peace

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 27, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 27, 2015avatar

Finding peace in today’s sobering headlines can be tough. You don’t have to be prone to discouragement to feel a little unsettled about the future. It appears that we are watching the decline of American leadership as a strong a defender of the same Judeo-Christian values that built our nation, and Satan is rapidly filling that cultural void with divisive and dividing issues. What are we to do in order to not go through our days in despair? The answer is in Isaiah 26:3-4 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock” (ESV). While we ought to acknowledge the problems and do all … Continue reading →

Wrath of God

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 23, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 23, 2015avatar

I mentioned today as we were looking at Revelation 8 and 9 that I would email you the psalm that I was trying to think of on judgement, and that is actually was Psalm 97. While looking for my notes on Psalm 97 I realized that a recent message from John MacArthur covered in a powerful way this very topic of God’s wrath. I’ve copied a portion of the message titled “We Will Not Bow” that deals with God’s coming wrath, below. The message from John MacArthur was given to his church congregation after the recent SCOTUS decision on unnatural marriage unions and you can also view the entire message here: https://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/80-425/we-will-not-bow?Term=Marriage%20scotus.       We Will Not Bow by John MacArthur  “…1 Thessalonians, … Continue reading →

Why Prophecy?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 20, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 20, 2015avatar

At our Midweek Fellowship we watched a DVD from Tommy Nelson on the introduction to the prophecies of Daniel. He laid out 9 reasons for prophecy and I would like to share those again here: It gives us comfort to know that God has a plan (1 Thessalonians 4:13). It keeps us sober minded about life and the future. It instills a healthy fear (2 Corinthians 5:9-10). It invites us to join the privileged in knowing what’s ahead (John 15:15). It gives us hope (Titus 2). It brings purity of hearts (1 John 3:3). It impacts our preachings and teaching to deal with what matters – heaven vs hell. It brings purpose to our work and lives. It encourages perseverance … Continue reading →

Why Evil?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 19, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 19, 2015avatar

Evil is the result of sin in our world, but we sometimes wonder why God doesn’t stop it all now. 2 Peter 3:8-10 shares this “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it … Continue reading →

Satan’s Persecution or God’s Wrath?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on August 5, 2015 by Steve DurkacAugust 5, 2015avatar

For the sake of understanding the prophecies of Revelation and the coming final events, know that there is a difference between tribulation that is persecution caused by Satan and tribulation that is the wrath caused by God. Believers of every age have experienced persecution brought upon them because of the hate of Satan against the followers of Christ. Jesus said in John 16:33 “In the world you will have tribulation” (ESV), and those martyred by the Romans in the past or by the Islamist today, know that. However, the tribulation that we will escape in the rapture is commonly referred to as God’s wrath and is sent as judgement to try the wicked, not persecute the saints. Jesus says “I will … Continue reading →
