Revelation: Shortly Come to Pass?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 31, 2020 by Steve DurkacAugust 13, 2020avatar

The book of Revelation spells out some details of the end time events that the Old Testament prophets proclaimed. What is interesting to me — in light of our current coronavirus crises —is the use of the phrase “shortly come to pass” used in it’s opening verse. Revelation 1:1 gives this introduction, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it … Continue reading →

The Post-Coronavirus Church

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 29, 2020 by Steve DurkacMarch 29, 2020avatar

The coronavirus is challenging many of the ways we do life in America. Some businesses are discovering that employees can work from home, families are adjusting to actually spending more time together, and church members are realizing that a weekly formal program may not be as necessary to their personal spiritual growth as they once thought. I am guessing that a lot of us are really missing weekly fellowship with like-minded believers in Christ. I am also guessing that a … Continue reading →

Why I Left the ‘Former Adventist’ Facebook Groups

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 26, 2020 by Steve DurkacSeptember 26, 2020avatar

This post may not mean anything to you, unless you are a former Adventist minister like I am or familiar with the Seventh-day Adventist church. With the advent of Facebook came groups for former Seventh-day Adventist. I joined a few and read a lot of the posts. However, it wasn’t long before I realized that many of the former Adventist group members merely express their rage and anger against everything Adventist. It doesn’t seem healthy to me. I think healthy … Continue reading →

Bible Promises for Prayer

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 23, 2020 by Steve DurkacMarch 23, 2020avatar

In the video I posted on Sunday, March 22, 2020, titled 7 Bible Promises for Prayer, I shared about God’s promises that are good to use in our prayers, and here I wish to share with you 15 Bible promises that are my go-to promises when in prayer… Jeremiah 33:3 – “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (ESV) Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord … Continue reading →

1 Samuel 17:11 and Fear in the Camp?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 19, 2020 by Steve DurkacOctober 14, 2020avatar

You are familiar with the story of David and Goliath and today I want to point out the little known similarity to that account and our current coronovirus pandemic. It begins in 1 Samuel 17:11 where the Scriptures records that “Saul and all Israel…were dismayed, and greatly afraid.” The army of Israel and their King, Saul, were in fear over one soldier. For 40 days this pagan warrior intimidated God’s chosen because they were fixated on Goliath, not on their … Continue reading →

2 Timothy 1:7 and Spirit of Fear

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 18, 2020 by Steve DurkacAugust 13, 2020avatar

The Apostle Paul wrote these words to a fearful Timothy, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). I say fearful because Timothy was a young pastor who was dealing with some lack of confidence issues, criticism because his father was a Gentile, plus he had some false teachers stirring up trouble among the flock, and one could also deduce that he had struggles … Continue reading →

Coronavirus: Week One at CrossHope Chapel

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 17, 2020 by Steve DurkacMarch 17, 2020avatar

I know it’s not week one for the coronovirus, in fact I’ve read a lot of reports that this coronovirus was being detected in American physician offices as early as last February 2019. It’s kind of week one for us at CrossHope Chapel because it is new this week in affected us and our regular routines. Steph and I are back home and we had an enjoyable weekend at the beach where everyone went about their activities seemingly unaffected by … Continue reading →

Psalm 91 and the Coronavirus?

Pastor Steve Durkac Posted on March 9, 2020 by Steve DurkacMarch 9, 2020avatar

The Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6 admonishes us to not be fearful about anything but to pray about everything. That includes the coronavirus. We ought to be praying that it will cease spreading, that it won’t befall us or our families, that we’ll all be spared if it continues to spread, and even that summer comes quickly to help end it. When you find fear creeping into your thoughts as you consider this virus encroaching upon your life or your … Continue reading →
